Samsung Emphasizes Corning Gorilla Glass Armor in Marketing for Galaxy S24 Ultra

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra is packed with high-end specs, as expected. Many people have spent countless hours arguing over these specs. However, one thing that cannot be disputed is that no other smartphone currently has Corning’s Gorilla Glass Armor protecting its screen. This should be a significant selling point for the S24 Ultra. Holding the device in your hand lets you see the difference this armor glass makes.

Today, Samsung has finally decided to properly advertise this feature, which has stayed under the radar until now. The company has released a new video on its official YouTube channel featuring cameos from renowned tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) and John Bayne, Corning’s Senior Vice President of Mobile Consumer Electronics.

The anti-reflective coating on this glass makes the S24 Ultra’s display appear much brighter than it is, especially on sunny days. This is because the screen’s brightness no longer has to fight reflections, as the coating reduces glare by up to 75%. While the panel is extremely bright, it’s in a league of its own when paired with this armor glass.

But that’s not all. Gorilla Glass Armor is four times more scratch-resistant than other screen glass technologies. The armor is made through a process that covers the glass surface with particular ions in nanometer layers, each thinner than a human hair. The Gorilla Glass Armor is manufactured in an ultra-clean environment using vacuum deposition systems, a process similar to that of Samsung, which produces semiconductors.
